The summer fly fishing in Colorado has been amazing. Some rivers in Colorado have been experiencing extreme heat and mudslides. The fishing on the Gunnison river has been fairly consistent. Lots of fish being caught with dries, streamers, and nymphs. Anglers of all skill levels are having success. There's only a few dates remaining for September and October in Colorado. The warm water species on the various Hill Country rivers are improving. There's a lot less people on the rivers with school starting and the rains are providing good flow.

RIVER CONDITIONS
The flows on the Guadalupe below Canyon Lake are 80 CFS. We are recommending half day float trips because of the lack of water, and the Covid risk with food preparation on full days. The Canyon Lake level is over 2 feet feet low and flows could reduce more if rainfall doesn't increase. It's very important to keep a watch on the river flows. Wading can become dangerous if you are on the river when the dam suddenly increases its flow. We recommend visiting http://www.grtu.org/flow/ to stay informed of the lake level and dam release. Make sure to book a trip soon to secure your date.
FLY SHOP and RIVER ACCESS
The Action Angler fly shop and access will continue to be closed until mid October. The shop is fully stocked with everything you need to have a successful day on the river. River access is $10 per angler and only available to fly anglers. Masks will be required to enter the fly shop, and the number of customers are limited to 4 at a time. The door to the shop will likely be locked in order to control the traffic inside the shop. We have a vending machine on the front porch with snacks and drinks (cash only). Purchases can be made through our website at any time of the year.

NEWS AND UPDATES
Action Angler is a booking agent and guide for 1, 2, and 3 day float trips on the Gunnison River through the Gunnison Gorge and lower Gunnison River. This allows us to hold preferred dates for our clients. The Gunnison Gorge is thought of by many as a Top 20 Destination To See Before You Die, and also referred to as a mini-Grand Canyon. The lower Gunnison River is an easier-paced section, with day trips starting at $600. Please contact us for details.

The 16th annual Learn to Fly Fish event is scheduled for December 4, 2021 from 9am to 11am. Action Angler has arranged with the Texas Parks and Wildlife stocking program to stock 1,000 rainbow trout for this event. This event will be limited to the first 20 anglers. The entry fee is $40 per angler, and is nonrefundable (the entry fees are used to purchase the rainbow trout). Please email info@actionangler.net to register.
